Going Global 2014: Inclusion, innovation and impact
Mar, 29/04/2014 - Jue, 01/05/2014
The Going Global conference 2014 under the theme “Inclusion, innovation and impact”, organized by the British Council, will take place from 29 April - 1 May in Miami, US. Going The annual conference expects more than 1000 delegates, 250 speakers and 50+ exhibitors from across the higher and further education sectors meet in Miami Beach to examine the impact that internationalisation can have on the global education community.
The conference consists of a series of sessions based around this year's themes of inclusion, innovation and impact, in the form of panel discussions, keynote plenaries, debates, town hall sessions and poster presentations.
Innovation is the major engine of national economic prosperity and growth. Yet, innovation cannot be contained within national borders, individual sectors or single disciplines. Talented people with highly specialised knowledge and skills are mobile. Nations aspiring to innovate must have strong national talent pools. To develop these, they must provide high quality tertiary education that ensures the wide inclusion of their citizens while being open to international collaboration.
Meeting the challenges of innovation requires inclusion and talent development. Universities and colleges are at the heart of these agendas. Internationalised institutions are ideally positioned to deliver national and global impact well beyond their traditional research and teaching roles.
Going Global 2014 explores how innovation systems are formed, structured and driven globally and transnationally. Delegates will consider how talent to drive innovation is developed and how countries meet the challenge of providing sufficient high quality tertiary education to ensure the widespread inclusion and participation of their citizens. The conference will focus on what impact an internationalised higher and tertiary sector can deliver in these twin areas of innovation and inclusion. Going Global 2014 will investigate how impact is delivered - and explore the outcomes for policy makers, funders, tertiary education stakeholders and the institutions themselves.

Going Global 2014 - General information
Going Global is an annual conference hosted by the British Council, offering an open forum for global leaders of international education to discuss issues facing the international education community. Since its inception in 2004, Going Global has grown from a biennial event in the UK to an annual event alternating between the UK and major international cities such as Hong Kong and Dubai. We are extremely pleased to be taking the conference to Miami in 2014. A city that is emerging as one of the world’s hubs for transport, banking and trade as well as culture and education and one that provides a bridge between Latin, Central and North America.
Each year Going Global attracts over 1,000 registered delegates from across the tertiary (further and higher) education sectors and a variety of other industries with perspectives on international education. The conferences consist of a series of sessions based around the year's chosen themes. Sessions take the form of panel debates, multi-presentation sessions and poster presentations. The event provides the platform for networking and has become a fixture of the global education calendar.
