ICED Conference 2014: “Educational Development in a Changing World”

The ICED Conference 2014 is hosted by Karolinska Institutet and organized by the Stockholm Uppsala University Network as part of the Swedish Educational Development Network (SwedNet). The conference aims to bring together participants for creativity, curiosity and front-of-the-line thinking about the development of teaching and learning in higher education. The 2014 International Conference – “Educational Development in a Changing World” will be held in Stockholm in June. The conference will open on Monday 16th June 2014 and close on Wednesday 18th June 2014.The pre-conference workshops day will be Sunday 15th June 2014.
The conference theme “Educational Development in a Changing World” is created to engage with the constant flow of change in which higher education is situated. It demands innovation and creativity as well as plurality and discipline specific strategies for implementations that keeps higher education at the frontline. Scholars and higher-education professionals, interested in educational development and related fields, are highly encouraged to submit papers for oral presentation, or to participate in other parts of the conference program including keynote address, plenary lecture, panel discussions/symposium, seminars, or pre-conference workshops.
Conference Themes

Discipline specific educational development Educational development in discipline-specific areas is sometimes organised separately from general higher educational development centres. This theme is an encouragement to share educational development practice across disciplinary areas and problematize the ’specificness’ of practice in this area.

Scholarship of teaching and learning This theme is concerned with how the scholarship of teaching and learning is encouraged and sustained at different levels in higher education.

Scholarship of educational development Engagement with the scholarship of educational development is desirable among educational developers in higher education. This theme concerns initiatives and ideas on how educational developers can be scholarly in their practice.

Strategic educational development To be sustainable and have long lasting effects educational development is faced with challenges such as institutional and cultural change. This theme aims to explore initiatives of educational development with a strategic approach, to target change at insitutional level.

Educational leadership/ Academic leadership Academic leaders are key players in the implementation of educational development. This theme concerns work aimed at leadership and management or mid-management level in higher education.
