SOS Network Launching Conference: Towards Inclusive Education
Jue, 27/03/2014
On 27 March 2014, the SOS Network Launching Conference “TOWARDS INCLUSIVE EDUCATION - Knowledge and Consciousness of an Inclusive Context to Avoid Early School Leaving” wll take place in Madrid. The SOS Network will celebrate the findings after 2½ years intensive work on collecting interesting case studies, methods and approaches on how to work with students and learners with special needs. The celebration will take place at a conference dedicated to early school leaving and approaches that work. The conference allows meeting and connecting with five institutions that have proved an innovative and empowering approach to social inclusion in vocational education and training.
Providers of education and training in most parts of Europe request well-proven methods and approaches to include students with special needs into vocational education and training and onto the labour market. Many different stakeholders have dealt with this issue at national and European level, in different contexts and with different objectives. The main conclusion from all these initiatives is that it will not be possible to find one solution that covers all aspects, and that a diversified and flexible approach seems to be the most relevant to apply.
During the last 2½ years, the SOS Network has strived for identifying interesting case studies and methods that work, and to make them easily accessible for professionals in different learning environments and others interested in the subject. The result is a fully functional website that aims at establishing a one-stop-shop portal for everyone with an interest in this topic. At the conference TOWARDS INCLUSIVE EDUCATIONS, the SOS Network will formally launch the online portal and present the results from the efforts of establishing a pan-European network on social inclusion for students with special needs. Moreover, the SOS Network will award one of five institutions/organisations that has proved innovative and with an empowering approach to social inclusion.
We invite you to take part and to discuss and further explore the possibilities of the SOS Network and the benefits it will have for those engaged in including students with special educational needs into vocational education and training and the labour market.
