Strategic Policy Seminar for Leaders of the Inclusion Movement
Mié, 14/05/2014
The EU concluded the United Nations Convention in 2010 and most Member States have either ratified it, or are close to ratification. In monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a key challenge recognized by Inclusion Europe’s members is the identification of evidence concerning states’ progress on disability policies, and their impact on disabled people. Two important General Comments on accessibility and on legal capacity have already been drafted and discussed in 2013. Inclusion Europe therefore organises a Strategic Policy Seminar for the leaders of our movement, promoting policy discussions around these General Comments but not limited to them.
This seminar will provide exchange opportunities on policy changes and reforms, in order to encourage Inclusion Europe’s members to design strategies which effectively contribute, but also critically challenge the work done by different institutions in charge of implementing the UNCRPD.
During this one-day seminar, participants will benefit from the experiences of their sister organisations, as well as those of high level experts, while having formal and informal occasions to share experiences and discuss strategies.
A draft programme is available here. An updated programme including speakers’ names will be uploaded in the coming weeks.
