The Future of Easy-to-Read - Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia
Wed, 29/05/2013
On 29 May 2013, a strategic discussion on the current challenges related to the provision of easy-to-read information will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Entitled 'On the way towards lifelong learning for all: The Future of Easy-to-Read', the event will bring together organisations working in the field of accessible information and provide them with a unique opportunity to exchange experiences at European level.
Looking into the current status of easy-to-read in Europe, the participants will discuss common challenges and identify concrete measures to improve the access of persons with intellectual disabilities to information and adult education. The indicative programme of the meeting is available here.
The event is organised within the framework of the European project Creating Pathways to Lifelong Learning for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities. Launched in 2011, the project aims to improve the access to information and lifelong learning for persons with intellectual disabilities across Europe.
The event is also the final meeting of the project Pathways. There will be organisations that worked on the 1st and 2nd project Pathways and other organisations and experts that work on 'easy-to-read' and training.
They will talk about experiences, successes and concerns and about:
- - how to make sure that there is more easy-to-read information
- - how to make sure that adults with intellectual disabilities can learn new things
- - how everybody can work together to make this happen
In 2009, Inclusion Europe published the European guidelines for making information easy to read and understand and other tools to make adult education more accessible for persons with intellectual disabilities. At the moment, the European guidelines are available in 16 European languages.
