Thu, 27/11/2014 - Fri, 28/11/2014
In cooperation with ONCE Foundation, Universia, PwC and Vodafone Spain
The ONCE Foundation is pleased to invite you to participate in the II International Congress of University and Disability that will be held in Madrid on November 27th-28th, 2014. The congress is thought to be a forum and a meeting place where ideas and strategies for moving towards inclusion in university will be discussed and research, programs as well as experiences related to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in universities will be disseminated. The Congress is co-founded by the European Social Fund, and incluD-ed will take part in one of the workshops.
Following the first edition of the International Congress of University and Disability held in 2012, from the ONCE Foundation we want to continue with the work started on promoting access and participation of persons with disabilities in university studies, as well as promoting actions and policies that have an impact on greater inclusion in university systems.
We believe that in the knowledge society, access to higher education in conditions of equality and the development of the investigative capacity of persons with disabilities are the best guarantees for their complete social inclusion, access to quality employment and their future professional development.
In order to do this, we want to raise awareness of experiences and best practices in universities throughout the world, in relation to the inclusion of persons with disabilities, as well as giving visibility to investigations and innovations applied to the field of disability and whose purpose is improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
We will specifically address areas such as: the transition to higher education; the programmes on university attention to disability; the incorporation of university graduates with disabilities into the labour market; the incorporation of the principle of Design for All and Universal Accessibility in university curriculums; access to information and investigative action in Universities regarding disabilities. All of this has the purpose of developing the mandates outlined in the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The Congress will see the participation of teaching and research personnel from universities from the five continents, university administration and service personnel, university students, technicians and executives from the movement associated with disabilities and experts and those interested in this field.
We invite all those interested to participate in this edition of the Congress, via registration and communications proposals focused on best practices or investigations developed in this field.
