Join GRI4disability Campaign - SUPPORT URGES!
Thu, 19/09/2013
Join us to advise the Board of the Global Reporting Initiative on the decision to support the creation of a Working Group for the inclusion of indicators related to people with disabilities in the GRI guidelines.
The Board of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) - the reference entity for Reporting on Corporate Social Responsibility by companies- will discuss an issue that Fundación ONCE and incluD-ed believe is of strategic importance for further promoting access to basic rights for people with disabilities worldwide: the creation of a working group with the mandate to develop specific disability indicators to be included in future versions of GRI G4 (that are missing now). These GRI guidelines are used by most companies in the world to build their sustainability or CSR Reports.
Fundación ONCE has launched a strong campaign, called GRI 4 ALL /GRI 4 DISABILITY, trying to involve organizations throughout the world, with the objective of sending a key message to the GRI Board members so that disability is taken into consideration. A unique opportunity that may not come in years and of course we would like to involve you.
Mr. Alberto Durán, Executive Vice President of Fundación ONCE, For Cooperation and Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities, and Mr. Luis Cayo Pérez Bueno, President of CERMI- Spanish Committee of representatives of people with disabilities, are inviting you join the Board of the Global Reporting Initiative on the decision:
Dear Sir/Madame,
At its next meeting, the Board of the Global Reporting Initiative will discuss an issue that we believe is of strategic importance to further promote access to basic rights for people with disabilities worldwide: the creation of a working group with the mandate to develop specific disability indicators to be included in future versions of GRI G4.
With this email we ask you to join us in our petition to the Board of GRI to include in their agenda the development of specific indicators promoting inclusion for people with disabilities.
Why?
- - People with disabilities are the world’s largest minority and most disadvantaged population group.
- - In all regions people with disabilities are disproportionately represented among the world’s poorest, and lack equal access to fundamental resources.
- - By employing people with disabilities, companies could wisely take advantage of the wider range of human talents.
- - People with disabilities are a large potential customer base, which continues to grow, particularly in ageing societies, where any person could experience some kind of disability at some point in his/her lifetime.
We believe that GRI could give a key impulse for including people with disabilities into the mainstream agenda development and processes.
The members of this modest support campaign can be contacted by email: , should you have any doubts while considering this issue.
Please confirm your support filling in the requested data in the attached letter and sending it to before 23rd September. Your petition will be sent to the Board of GRI to ask the inclusion of disability in their Agenda and working groups.
Appreciate your kind consideration,
Receive our warm greetings,
Mr. Alberto Durán and Mr. Luis Cayo Pérez Bueno
PS: please feel free to send the invitation to join the campaign (below) to any of your contacts that you think could support. The more we are, the better! Your help as partners and Secretariat of the Includ-ed network will be very welcome.
