EASPD, MEP Pietikäinen and MEP Torvalds are glad to invite you to a hearing where EU policy makers will discuss together with representatives from civil society and service providers for persons with disabilities on the forthcoming Directive on Public Procurement and on its consequences on Social Services of General Interest and in particular on the quality of services for persons with disabilities.
The new proposal of Directive on Public Procurement acknowledges the specificities of social services as general interest services, and provides a specific regime. In view of the importance of this step in the field of social services, we decided to organise a hearing at the European Parliament in order to enhance the understanding of this Directive and allow for a constructive debate on the subject.
The hearing will take place at the European Parliament, room A5G-1, on 13th November 2013, from 14.00 to 16.30 .
In the first panel, speakers from the European Parliament and the European Commission will present the directive from a European level, while a second panel different stakeholders will analyse the consequences of the new directive on the quality and sustainability of Social Services of General Interest, from both services' and users' perspectives.
The confirmed speakers are: MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen; MEP Nils Torvalds; Ms Paola Zanetti, European Commission; Ms Valentina Caimi, Social Platform; Ms Tiina Lappalainen, Finnish Association of People with Physical Disabilities; Mr Franz Wolfmayr, European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities.
