Profile of Simoni Symeonidou

Simoni Symeonidou is a lecturer in Inclusive Education at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus. She holds degrees from the University of Cyprus (B.Ed in Primary Education), the University of Manchester (M.Ed in Special Needs and Development) and the University of Cambridge (PhD in Education). Her research interests involve the history, policy and practice of inclusive education in Cyprus and in other countries, inclusive education and the curriculum, teacher Education for inclusion and Disability Studies in Education. She is actively involved in international projects, networks and associations that promote inclusive education issues and she has published widely in international journals. In 2012, her first book was published, entitled ‘Education for Inclusion: From Research to Praxis’. She is the scientific co-ordinator of the website Tessearae of Knowledge (www.ucy.ac.cy/psifides-gnosis).
